Sacred Forest Coffee Project

Tawagon, Barangay Rogongon, Iligan City, Mindanao, Philippines

A community-led agroforestry and reforestation project on 15 hectares of Higa-onon ancestral territory in Tawagon, Barangay Rogongon, Iligan City, Mindanao. Developed with Tribes and Nature Defenders Inc. (TRINAD Inc.), a Higa-onon-led NGO founded by Datu Lanelio T. Sangcoan, the project combines native forest restoration with coffee and fruit tree agroforestry, giving the Higa-onon community a source of income tied to keeping the forest standing rather than clearing it.
